Volvo Trucks New EEV Engines Volvo Trucks will start delivering its first FH and FM trucks with EEV (Enhanced Environmental friendly vehicle) engines during 2009. The new engines will help improve air quality by reducing particulates and smoke drastically, going beyond the requirements of Euro V. The first stage of Volvo’s EEV engine offer, based on an optimized D13 engine with SCR, will cover the majority of the D13’s current sales volume.

Alcolock from Volvo Trucks Advanced Alcolock from Volvo Trucks Approximately every third of the roughly 40,000 traffic-related deaths reported in the European Union each year can be directly attributed to alcohol. To promote safer driving and help reduce traffic fatalities, Volvo Trucks is introducing Alcolock. This optional, fully integrated solution requires the driver to take a breath test before the engine can be started. Volvo’s new Alcolock is the only solution of its kind that is factory-installed for quality, and represents an important step in reducing alcohol-related accidents.
