Last time many people buy radiocontrolled helicopters. It concerns either children or adults.

AR.Drone 2.0

Thus, the Postal Service of the French region Auvergne has decided to combine business with pleasure, and to implement drones to work from this year May. These winged assistants are managed through the iPhone and iPod Touch. They will deliver the mail to the targeted addresses instead of postmen. The staff of the Auvergne postal will accept 20 units of AR.Drone 2.0 produced by the company Parrot. It turns out that e-mail will be no longer delivered by pigeons but parrots?

The idea of winged postmen was happily picked up in the USA. There`s a crowd of self-taught engineers who look forward the acceptation of common standards for the drones operation by the Administration of Federal Aviation of United States. But the rules most of all would be developed only in 2015. But progress in America took a step further: it is going to develop mail planes which will fly in column, but no closer than 8 km to airports. Their advantage is that they do not require a complete hermetic encapsulation, and thus more economical to maintain.

By the way, drones AR.Drone 2.0 is equipped with the function of 2-hours-long HD-video of its flight with a resolution in 720 pixels. You are interested to see the results? This is incredibly beautiful!

And this is the most beautiful video record of AR.Drone 2.0 in the opinion of the audience:

The maximum speed that can develop helicopter is 11.11 m/s. The quadrocopter has two bodies: one is for indoor use, and the other one is for the street "walking." Both bodies are made of plastic, which is used for car bumpers (RA66 with reinforced carbon fiber), and the especially important details, which stand the maximum load, are made of lightweight and strong carbon fiber.

As regards the technical characteristics of AR.Drone 2.0, then it is not so easy there: 4 brushless electric motor rated at 14.5 kW at 28,500 rpm are used as a powertrain. They work together with low noise Nylatron 1/8.75 gears. Drone is equipped with removable 3-element 1000 mAh battery, battery charger for different slots. Inside there are installed 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope with an angle of rotation in 2000 º/sec, 1GHz 32 bit ARM Cortex A8 processor, 3-axis magnetometer rated at 6 degrees, the Linux 2.6.32 operating system, 1Gbit DDR2 RAM memory with a frequency of 200 MHz and a separate 800MHz processor for processing video DSP TMS320DMC64x. Electronic controller "dressed" in a waterproof case that allows the helicopter to cut through the air waves even when it rains. In a case of collision all 4 motors are automatically turned off in order to avoid overheating.

The cost of the gadget is 700 dollars.

PS: That is no matter whether it pigeons or parrots ... Swifts love electronic birdie very much, and as soon as it soars upward, they immediately surround it in merry bunch. They may stole press!
