New Holland’s (CNH-USA) 2008 big square baler range will be topped by a new BB9090 model to replace the BB980. New Holland claims to have increased baler capacity by 20% due to increased crop throughput.
Built by AGCO in the USA, the BB9090 is based on Massey Ferguson’s new 2190 baler. Bale width has increased from 1180mm to 1200mm. Pick-up performance has been enhanced with new torsion bar suspension, replacing the spring flotation system used previously. Combined with an increase in plunger speed, the improved pick-up has enabled the BB9090 to pack material away quicker, thus increasing forward speed and bale density.
Lubrication intervals have been increased from 10 to 50 hours with more bearings now sealed, reducing the burden on the main auto lubrication system. A new automatic greasing knotter system can be monitored by the operator from the control panel, further reducing maintenance times. Twine capacity has increased from 24 to 30 balls and wide-opening, sealed doors allow easy access for servicing and reduced trash build-up.
