Caterpillar has launched three new telehandlers into the agricultural market. The TH255 super compact is designed to work in tight areas and comes with a load capacity of 2500kg, a maximum lift height of 5.6m and a capacity at maximum reach of 839kg. Despite its compact dimensions - which include a width of 1.82m, cab height of 1.9m and turning radius of 3.2m - the TH255 is claimed to have a spacious cab and be easy to get in and out of. Power comes from a Cat 4.4 diesel producing 84hp and directed through a hydrostatic drive. There are also three steering modes to maximize maneuverability.
Also new are the TH406 and TH407 telehandlers. The TH406 has a load capacity of 3700kg, a lift height of 6.1m and a forward reach of 3.1m, while the bigger TH407 has the same load capacity but a lift height of 7.3m and a forward reach of 3.7m. A 101hp Cat 4.4 diesel engine is fitted to both machines as standard, but there`s also the option of a 126hp engine. A limited slip differential is fitted to the front axle. The cab on both machines is new with better heating and ventilation, optional air-conditioning and an LCD display showing information on machine speed, operating hours, fuel level, coolant temperature and error messages. There`s also a longitudinal stability indicator that provides a constant check on load safety, with a cut-out that operates if the recommended load is exceeded. A built-in start code device reduces the risk of theft.
