VW Passat Performance Concept
Despite its promising name - "Performance Concept", new Volkswagen`s Passat in reality is not so impressive. Passat Performance Concept is powered by a 1.8-liter EA888 turbocharged engine producing 250 hp, which is good, but not enough in comparison for example with the 278-horsepower Honda Accord V6.
VW Passat Performance Concept features 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, a dual exhaust, carbon fiber to the dash and door panels, two-color leather seating surfaces, black headliner and side pillars.
Among the enhancements are a lowered sport suspension and electro-mechanical steering system.
Volkswagen Tiguan, Touareg R-Line
In Detroit Volkswagen will also show the R-Line versions of its Tiguan and Touareg. Tiguan R-Line is based on the SEL version and features 19-inch wheels with low-profile all-season tires, side skirts in body color with a chrome trim, rear spoiler R-Line, wheel arch extensions, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, a sports-tuned suspension.
As for the interior, there is a metallic finish for dash and door trim, aluminum pedals, black headliner and multifunction steering wheel. Tiguan R-Line is powered by 2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and is available with either front-or all-wheel drive.
Touareg R-Line, in its turn, is based on the Lux variant. As standard, it comes with 4Motion and eight-speed automatic transmission. Touareg is powered by a 3.6-liter gasoline VR6, or 3-liter diesel engine TDI Clean Diesel. It features a sport suspension, 20-inch wheels, LED taillights, a new front bumper and side skirts, and oval dual exhaust tips.
VW CrossBlue Concept
In order to cover the price gap between the two models the compact SUV Tiguan and the Touareg in the premium segments Volkswagen has prepared a concept of a new model CrossBlue. At 4,986mm long, 2,014mm wide, and 1,732mm tall, it is bigger than the Touareg, and roughly the same size as the Ford Explorer.
A cargo space behind the third seating row is 335 liters, increasing to 812 liters when folded down and up to 2,000 liters when the second row is folded as well. In addition, the front passenger seatback can be folded, in this case the cargo space increases to 3110 mm.
VW CrossBlue Concept is equipped with a hybrid powertrain coupling a 190-horsepower 2-liter diesel TDI Clean Diesel engine, two electric motors 54 hp front, 114 hp rear and DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The combined output is 305 hp and torque is 700 Nm. VW CrossBlue Concept reaches 100km/h in 7.5 seconds.
