Refreshed BMW 5th series
Facelifted 2014 BMW 5 Series appeared in Sedan, Touring and GT bodies. The first thing that can be said about this, is that you need to give a good look to see the difference from the current version. And the second is that, expectations didn’t came true and Gran Turismo didn’t become prettier.
Changes affected the style of front bumper and grille. There were added lightweight matte silver accents. These accents came through the body side mirrors with LED turn signal repeaters and the tailgate. As standard all models will be equipped with adaptive head optics. Hatchback GT cargo volume received an extra 60 liters of space.
The cars equipment were added by two new packages – Luxury Line and Modern Line trim. In addition, all models will have alloy wheels, the latest version of the iDrive 4.2 multimedia complex, new color options for paint finishes, spacious storage compartments and cup holders.
According to the manufacturer, the motors of all 5 Series restyled models have been certified in accordance with the "Euro 6". This environmental standard will be introduced in Europe only by September this year. Cars are equipped now by coasting mode, which disables the transmission when needed to improve fuel efficiency, ECO PRO Route function and Proactive Driving Assistant, which adjusts the car`s speed with the speed limits.
518d diesel engine is now available for the 5 Series Touring and Sedan. This 4-cylinder engine with 2.0 liters displacement develops 141 hp power capacity and consumes only 4.5 liters / 100 km. 520d Sedan and Touring get xDrive all-wheel drive system.
