Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution could go hybrid

At the moment Mitsubishi is actively working on the next generation Mitsubishi Evo, which will feature a hybrid setup for about 500 hp (373 kW). Next generation Mitsubishi Lancer is planned to launched sometime next year, while the new Evo to appear a year later. In comparison with its predecessor, an all-wheel Evo will improve their driving performance and reduce CO2 emissions. The design features the 2008 Concept-RA elements, and the gasoline-electric variant will use technology derived from the MiEV Evolution II Pikes Peak.

However, before a new Evo is out, Mitsubishi plans to release a Lancer PHEV powered by a 2-liter gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors 80 hp. Average fuel consumption is 1.8 liters / 100 km and a 64 km electric range.
