Turkish bus manufacturer Temsa has a first prototype ready of its new Avenue citybus. The new model will be offered in both low entry and full low floor variants. Low floor variants can have two or three doors and low entry one or two. The various versions will be powered by a DAF PR EEV 310bhp engine with ZF 6HP594 automatic gearbox as standard. Launching customer is Arriva who will take delivery of it. Alternative power unit is the 247bhp Cummins ISBe4 Euro4 with Voith D854-5 automatic transmission, while a CNG hybrid is under development. All models have ZF independent front suspension and are available with or without air conditioning by Safkar.
Arriva in the UK is taking the low entry model with a single entrance at the front and a centre offside emergency door. An interesting aspect of the design is the optional deep side windows. Work on the Arriva UK prototype will begin in February 2009, with the first delivery in the second half of the year.
