Caterpillar Inc. said on Tuesday that it plans to raise prices in 2007, a fresh sign of the company"s confidence that its end markets remain strong.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Caterpillar said it will raise machinery prices as much as 5 percent and engine prices as much as 7 percent.
The US company said the increases were "in line with expected general economic conditions and industry factors."
A spokesman for Caterpillar declined to elaborate on the filing.
Shares in Caterpillar closed up $2.41, or 3.6 percent, to $69.68 on the New York Stock Exchange.
