Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has increased its heavy-duty manufacturing capacity with a major investment in the expansion of its existing manufacturing facilities. This expansion will support continued growth of its North American heavy duty starter and alternator business. Production of some heavy duty starters and alternators began transitioning to the new facility in May 2006, and will be complete by the end of the year.
“Continued growth in our North American Heavy Duty OE business, along with the success of our recently launched Heavy Duty Aftermarket business, required us to add significant heavy duty manufacturing capacity,” says David Stone, executive director, Powertrain, Body and Chassis, Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America. “As OE manufacturers and fleets focus more on reliability, less downtime, lower total cost, and reduced warranty, the demand for higher quality starters and alternators is increasing.”
Mitsubishi Electric heavy duty products are currently standard equipment or available as an option on most Volvo, Mack, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth and Sterling trucks.
