Chinese company to open a plant in the USA
Sany Corp., a manufacturer of machines and related components for the building and construction industry, has won Chinese government approval to build a plant in the United States, potentially becoming the first Chinese machinery maker to assemble equipment in the U.S. Sany will initially invest $9 million in the U.S. plant, rising to $50 million three years later, the company"s executive president Xiang Wenbo said.

Bobcat workers are protesting
Unionized workers at the Bobcat Co. plant in North Dakota went on strike Saturday after the company and the union negotiators failed to agree on a new labor contract.
Steve Chmielewski, president of Local 566 of the United Steelworkers union, said the labor contract expired on Saturday at 7 a.m. He said workers began walking the picket line early Saturday afternoon.
Chmielewski said the union represents about 780 employees.

Customers choose Caterpillar
For the sixth consecutive year, a heavy-duty truck engine from Caterpillar has received a prestigious award for customer satisfaction in the 2006 Heavy Duty Truck Engine and Transmission Customer Satisfaction Survey.

Terex to get rid of Tatra
Terex Corp. said Tuesday that it completed the sale of its 80.5 percent ownership stake in Czech truck maker Tatra AS to Blue River s.r.o. for roughly $26.2 million in cash.
The deal also calls for the repayment of all inter-company debt owed to Terex by Tatra of about $31.6 million. Additionally, Blue River will assume Tatra`s debt, which totals about $22 million.

Komatsu is expanding its presence in Europe
Komatsu Europe plans to use its new € 17 million head office and spare parts logistics centre in Vilvoorde, Belgium to improve customer support and grow the company’s European business. The 3,400 sq m modern office development and 34,500 sq m state of the art warehouse were officially opened last week by Komatsu Europe president and CEO Tsutomu Sakurai.
