Ponsse introduced several new products at the SkogsElmia fair held in Sweden from 31 May to 2 June 2007. For the first time, the visitors saw the PONSSE Ergo harvester that has gone through an extensive development programme, as well as novelties in the bioenergy field – group handling function for harvester heads and a new load scale. A new harvester head control system for harvesting eucalyptus trees, the PONSSE Opti2, was also launched.

Active feedback from company`s customers has introduced a number of improvements to PONSSE Ergo. PONSSE Ergo, an established forerunner, is now even more efficient and productive harvester than before. The new C4 crane, H7 harvester head and general improvements to the base machine together with the new Opti4G 4.602 version and the new-generation control modules make Ergo the most advanced harvester in its size category. Driving comfort is guaranteed by the new PONSSE active damping system. Operating comfort has also been developed. PONSSE Ergo is equipped with the most versatile crane (HN125, HN200 and C4 sliding boom cranes, and C33 parallel crane) and harvester head (the H60 series, H73 and H7) models in the markets.

The PONSSE H7 harvester head`s innovative technology is based on the new harvester head taken into production in spring 2007, PONSSE H8. The PONSSE C4 harvester crane is an efficient sliding boom crane with a lifting power of 228 kNm. Other products to be lauched at SkogsElmia are the new PONSSE LoadOptimizer load scale for weighing industrial and energy wood, and harvester heads` group handling equipment for simultaneous handling of several trunks. The new PONSSE Opti2 harvester head control system is suitable for the harvesting of eucalyptus and acacia.

The SkogsElmia fair is the final stop of the Ponsse Road Show tour that started at the beginning of 2007. Tour events have been organised in 30 locations in 13 different countries. During the tour the Finnish company have met thousands of customers from all over Europe and got valuable feedback for the development of their operations and products. The heavy-duty size category PONSSE Bear harvester and the PONSSE Elephant forwarder have been well received by the forestry professionals. "Our new products in the heavy-duty size category have strengthened our competitiveness, and the products to be launched now are the kind of solutions our customers have wanted in our product range. We believe that the PONSSE Ergo will be increasingly popular in all our market areas," says Arto Tiitinen, President and CEO of Ponsse Oyj.
