Komatsu Forest Oy is investing heavily in a new forest machine center in Finland. The new center will cover 3,000 square meters and is strategically located in Pirkkala, just outside Tampere.
“The idea is to create a hub for all Komatsu Forest operations in Finland and the Baltic States,” says Tore Waara, CEO of Komatsu Forest Oy. “Of the many available alternatives, we chose Pirkkala because it`s close to customers, the airport, major highways, and universities and colleges.” The new center provides a central meeting point with a wide offering for customers and other interested parties. Some 2,000 square meters of the new center will be dedicated to sales of both new and used forest machines, service, and spare part sales. It will also house new offices for marketing and administration. A roofed area of 400 square meters adjacent to the new building will be used to display machines.
“To start with, the new forest machine center will be able to service an estimated 300 machines a year, with a maximum capacity of 500 machines a year,” Waara explains. Komatsu Forest Oy is Komatsu Forest`s Finnish subsidiary. The company markets and sells Valmet forest machines in Finland, the Baltic States, and Russia and has some 40 employees, 30 of whom will work at the new forestry machine center in Pirkkala outside Tampere. The move is planned for August 1.
