Merlo shows evolution with new Roto machines

Merlo shows evolution with new Roto machinesMerlo shows evolution with new Roto machines.

Continuous improvement is the philosophy that lies behind the creation of the five new compact Roto, designed by Merlo as an upgrade to the previous models of the K and KS series boom lifts.

They all ensure amazing performances with load capacities reaching 5 tons and operating heights of almost 16 metres. The complete turret slew has been increased to 415 degrees to provide an even greater freedom of movement.

The new Roto are 5 cm narrower and 13 cm shorter than the previous models, while their load capacity has grown thanks also to the larger stabilisation area. These features mean they are true thoroughbred for all handling and lifting operations.

The compact and solid telescopic booms are manufactured using the exclusive “all inside” Merlo technology. The extraction devices and the hydraulic and electric systems are nicely protected inside the structure of the boom itself. This means that no elements are left outside, where they may be damaged by simple collisions which can always occur in building sites.

The controls are managed through a single lever joystick with electro-proportional actuations. The operator has direct control over the working operations - without any effort - and can further rely on the multiple automatic safety systems.

The engine is a Deutz turbocharged 4 cylinders with 74.9 kW (102 HP) power. Following the Merlo tradition, the transmission is hydrostatic and can be managed over the entire working range, from zero to the maximum speed, using just the gas pedal.

The road speed reaches 40 kph for the Roto S models. The hydraulic system is fed through a variable delivery pump with Load-Sensing control. The advantages are quite significant: reduced consumption and longer life of components.

By simply touching the controls on the innovative touch-screen control panel it is also possible to select the desired set-up for stabilisers and hydro-pneumatic suspensions.

The hydro-pneumatic levelling suspensions are a high profile technical equipment of the Roto S models. They offer maximum comfort to the operator, eliminating any risk of machine pitching during transfers made at maximum speed. Three operating modes allow to meet all set-up needs.
