Terex Demag (Germany) has carried out final tests on a new heavy crawler for petrochemical and power sectors, the 1,600t capacity CC 9800. The new crane uses many components from the twin boom 3,200t CC 8800-1 Twin. The crane has been tested by engineers at Terex Demag's Zweibruecken facilities. The first two models will be using the crane for wind turbine work: the crane can be configured to lift components for 6MW and bigger turbines, weighing up to 375t, to a height of 147m.
A wider boom system, with components up to 4m wide, provides a load moment rating of 27,000tm, when carrying 800t of Superlift counterweight at 30m radius. Maximum boom and jib length are 156m and 120m, respectively, and maximum SWSL configuration is 108m+120m, for a total hook height of 230m. All three of the company’s large crawlers - the CC 8800-1, CC 9800, and CC 8800-1 Twin are aimed at petrochemical, large infrastructure and power sectors.
