Korean Air Lines Co. the world's largest air cargo carrier said it has signed a formal deal with state-run Uzbekistan Airways to expand cooperation in international air cargo services. The two carriers struck a preliminary deal in May to build an international logistics center at Navoi Airport in the Central Asian country and to operate cargo flights on the Incheon-Navoi-Milano route, Korean Air said in a statement.
Korean Air will provide Uzbekistan Airways with consultation on management and operations of the center over the next three months, the South Korean carrier said. Earlier in the day, Korean Air launched cargo flight services on the Incheon-Navoi-Milano line, which will be provided three times a week. Korean Air will also operate passenger flights on the Incheon-Tashkent route three times a week starting September 2. Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan.
