10.01.2006 Ukraine raises customs tariffs

In the year 2006 customs tariffs may increase by 20%. For this purpose all procedures are being simplified for transports to stay in terminals considerably less. The customs tariff for clearance of one truck is expected to vary from $60 to $65 which is 20% higher that recent rates. Market exports state that the increase in tariffs will not reflect anyhow on the prices for goods imported. In the transportation component they do not exceed a few per cent.

Russia to lose three customs offices On January 1 three customs offices in the Far East (two in Primorsky Territory and one in Sakha Republic – Yakutia) will stop operation.

By the December 1 command of Federal Customs Service of Russia three customs offices will be eliminated: Railway checkpoint Makhalino (Khasanian customs), Sea port Posiet (Khasanian customs), Mirninsky customs office (Yakutian customs). The railway checkpoint “Makhalino-Khunchun” will be included into the activity region of Khasanian customs office.

Dealers compare figures Automobile customs catalog published this Monday on the official website of the Far East Customs and in some media faced no objections from car sellers.
The Far East Customs Office reported that the customers do not expect any remarks and corrections from automobile dealers, as the catalog was based on the auction data supplied by used imported automobile sellers who consolidated in various social organisations and associations. Cherepovets customs office will be the pilot area for introduction of electronic declaring By the end of the year the number of customs authorities using electronic declaring in North-West Federal District of Russia is planned to reach 16. In Vologda Region Cherepovets customs office will be the pilot area, says the spokesman of Vologda customs Pavel Tereshkov. According to him, the first declaring is planned to be rceived in 2006. Until today, electronic declaring is introduced in some customs offices in Saint-Petersburg and Baltic customs offices. The use of electronic declaring of goods

General Motors Europe and Caterpillar Logistics Services Announce Joint Venture General Motors Europe (GME) and Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc. (Cat Logistics), a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., have reached a ten- year agreement to form Caterpillar Logistics Supply Chain Services GmbH, a joint venture company.
This project is part of GME"s comprehensive restructuring program announced last fall.
Serving as a third party logistics provider, the joint venture will implement Cat Logistics" industry best practices to deliver aftermarket warehouse productivity
