Caterpillar AD60 – the largest underground articulated truck
Caterpillar has recently unveiled the new model of underground articulated truck AD60. The loading capacity of the truck is 60 tonnes. The gross vehicle weight is 110 tonnes. The body capacity is 33.8 m3.
The truck wears Cat C27 ACERT diesel engine rated at 805 hp. Before installing to AD60 Caterpillar updated this engine with the new high temperature fuel injectors and pistons, crankshaft lubrication system. The oil cooler was mounted separately from the gear box. The transmission is powershifted, seven-speed and planetary.
To increase the cooling of engine compartment there was installed a new heat-shielding system, which isolates heat from the exhaust gases and turbocharger impeller. This heat shield is very easy to install and remove.
The operator station is spacious, comfortable anв safety. In standard there is an air-ride seat Cat Comfort TLV2, which can be regulated electronically. The cab is manufactured using a safety glass and is equipped by FOPS. There also installed the operator presence system, which will switch off the engine in case the operator leaves the station.
For better stability AD60 gets the updated front suspension.
The valuable features of AD60 are: electronic integration of the engine, overspeed protection, anti-skid deck surfaces, ROPS, Truck Payload Management, VIMS Guardian.
The underground articulated truck will be available in two modifications – with ejector or dump body. The single-stage hoist cylinder allows to reduce the cycle times. The frame has box-sections construction. The oscillation/ articulation hitch provides maneuverability and stability in all terrain.
As for the brakes – they are multiple four-wheel, oil-cooled.
