Caterpillar announces the addition of the AP555E Asphalt Paver to the Paving Products machine family. Excellent mobility, superb visibility, powerful C4.4 engine, quick setup, and a comfortable operating environment are just some of the features that you can expect from the AP555E asphalt paver. The compact, lighter weight design allows contractors to transport the paver along with other necessary job site equipment, maximizing machine transport while minimizing costs. The AP555E will be capable of working at a maximum paving width of 8.0 meters, making it an optimum choice for contractors that operate in a wide range of medium to large applications.
The AP555E features include a Cat 4.4 engine with ACERT Technology, dual operating stations with the Advisor Monitoring System (AMS), exclusive Mobil-trac undercarriage, high capacity cooling system, belt-driven generator, and Caterpillar's unique material handling system with independent auger and conveyor controls.
The powerful Cat C4.4 engine with ACERT Technology is European EU Stage IIIA engine emission compliant. The 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine provides 106 kW (144 hp) of power. A deck-mounted cooling system provides cool intake air in order to maximize fuel efficiency and minimize emissions.
An Advisor Monitoring System located on the left operating station provides an interactive interface to assist the operator. The system includes project planning calculators, start-up checklists, engine operating conditions, and many other features to assist the operator. The system also lists fault codes for machine functions, making troubleshooting quick and easy.
The highly reliable Mobil-trac undercarriage provides excellent flotation and limits disturbance on soft base materials, ensuring uniform mat thickness. Large oscillating bogies and hydraulic accumulators progressively overcome surface irregularities with minimal tow point movement limiting the effects of curbs, mix piles, and manholes. The Cat system is equipped with automatic speed control and three propel/steering modes: PAVE, TRAVEL and MANEUVER.
