Renault-Nissan and Daimler’s Further Cooperation

Carlos Ghosn and Dieter Zetsche Carlos Ghosn and Dieter Zetsche.

The Industrial giants Renault-Nissan и Daimler cooperated a long time ago, producing collective vehicle platforms and manufacturing facilities. But it was not enough for the heads of both companies – Carlos Ghosn (Renault-Nissan) and Dieter Zetsche (Daimler).

Their further cooperation will be in creating Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission at a Mexico plant for mounting on Infiniti and Nissan vehicles. It’s unknown for now which models will get it, but it’s clear that we will not see it unless 2016.

The next cooperative step will be in manufacturing of the new 4-cylinder engine with direct injection and turbocharger. This compact unit will be installed in Smart ForTwo, ForFour, Renault Twingo and the next generation of Nissan Micra.
