01.08.2008 Freedom to conduct sea trials

Coastal Surface Combatant The Littoral Combat Ship Freedom put to sea for the first time, marking the beginning of Builder’s Sea Trials for the first-in-class coastal surface combatant. The agile 378-foot Freedom, designed and built by a Lockheed Martin is conducting Builder’s Sea Trials in Lake Michigan. The trials – which are a coordinated effort between the U.S. Navy and the Lockheed Martin team – will include operational testing of the vessel’s propulsion, communications, navigation and mission systems, as well as all related support systems.

UH-72A Lakota helicopter UH-72A Lakota helicopter for the National Guard The National Guard has received the new light utility UH-72A Lakota helicopter. They will be used for command and control missions such as aerial reconnaissance, counter-drug operations, weapons of mass destruction, and hurricane emergencies.

Leopard 2A6 HEL Tank Leopard 2A6 HEL Tank The Armored Brigade of the Greek army has accepted into service the first Leopard 2A6 HEL supplied by German armored vehicle builder Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The new tank is the latest variant in a long line of Leopard-family tanks.

all terrain crane Terex MAC-50 Cummins Engines for Military Terex Demags Cummins will supply its QSC diesel engines to Terex Demag to power its MAC-50 all terrain crane for military applications. Terex Government Programs will supply the MAC-50 to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC).

F-35 Lightning II Fighter Lockheed Martin to deliver F-35C to U.S. Navy The U.S. Navy`s version of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is scheduled to make its first flight next year. The F-35C`s stealth will bring a profound increase in capability to the Navy`s fighter fleet. It is designed to withstand the rigors of catapult launches and arrested recoveries aboard the Navy`s large carriers.
