Cummins will supply its QSC diesel engines to Terex Demag to power its MAC-50 all terrain crane for military applications. Terex Government Programs will supply the MAC-50 to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). The military specification includes suitability for rapid deployment and all-terrain capability. The engine needs to be compatible with a wide range of military fuels, including 100% kerosene. It also needs cold-starting capability down to –32 C. At the other end of the scale it must operate in hot climates with temperatures up to +50 C.

Lifting capacity is 45 tones and the MAC-50 has a salt-water fording capability of 1.5 m. Terex manufactures its MAC-50 cranes at its Terex Demag plant in Zweibrücken, Germany. The 305 hp QSC engine is built in Darlington, UK.
